Structure

This course comprises 24 credit points of study of foundation subjects including database, information systems, networking and software development.

Entry requirements

  • UTS recognised bachelor degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies. The English proficiency requirement for international students or local applicants with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0
  • or TOEFL: paper based: 550-583 overall with TWE of 4.5, internet based: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21
  • or AE5: Pass
  • or PTE: 58-64
  • or CAE: 176-184. Eligibility for admission does not guarantee offer of a place. International students: To obtain a student visa to study in Australia, international students must enrol full time and on campus. Australian student visa regulations also require international students studying on student visas to complete the course within the standard full-time duration. Students can extend their courses only in exceptional circumstances.

Study Pathways

Credit recognition is not offered for subjects in the graduate certificate. The substitution of core subjects to an alternative postgraduate subject in a similar field of study may be granted. Subject substitution is subject to faculty approval. Subject substitution is not granted for the networking subject 32524 without the successful completion of the challenge test. Holders of a CCNA or CCNP certification and/or those who have passed the CCNA curriculum in TAFE Certificate IV and/or Diploma seeking subject substitution, are also required to complete a challenge test. Challenge tests are in the week prior to the commencement of classes. Applicants must obtain faculty approval before attending the challenge test. This course is part of an articulated program of study comprising the Graduate Certificate in Information Technology Studies, the Master of Information Technology, the Master of Information Technology (Extension) and the Master of Information Technology (Advanced).
