Graduate Certificate in Public Sector Innovation

University of Technology Sydney (UTS)

Type of institution: University/Higher Education Institution
Level: Postgraduate
CRICOS: 00099F

This course enables professionals in the public sector who see themselves as 'change agents' to acquire the capability to impact complex problems they encounter in practice. Students learn proven innovation methodologies developed with public organisations, and develop practical skills to initiate and lead innovation projects to address these complex societal problems. Students also develop innovation competency by applying acquired learning to a real-world complex issue of their choice through an experiential, practice-based learning model. The course utilises a peer-learning model within the teaching program. Students benefit from learning from fellow public sector professionals across disciplines. Sponsorship by an employing organisation is a requirement, as students work on a self-selected problem within their own professional practice. Sponsoring organisations benefit from students enrolling in the course in two ways: firstly through increased innovation capability of their staff members, and secondly through the intervention that is developed by these students within the course.
