This course is one of three graduate certificates in the Master of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship. It is aimed at students who need commercial skills and knowledge in the areas of accounting, finance, statistics and sales and marketing to help develop their business ideas into a business plan to pitch for venture capital funding. The course also includes a subject on global entrepreneurship, which provides students with knowledge of entrepreneurship and innovation practice in different regions and industries. Students with assessed business ideas who want to develop a business plan for their venture and pitch for venture fund benefit from studying this course. Students learn about entrepreneurial ventures in other regions and industries through practical cases. Students also have access to non-award-based seminars and events with entrepreneurs and other relevant industry practitioners which provide reality and rigour to supplement their classroom study. The course is designed to provide students with entrepreneurial skills and knowledge which is academically rigorous but also practical to enable the development of the future entrepreneurs of Australia. The course suits students from business and non-business backgrounds who are interested in entrepreneurship and developing their own business ideas, corporate innovation executives wanting to upgrade their skills and knowledge, and current entrepreneurs who require specific skills and knowledge in entrepreneurship.

Structure

The course comprises four core online subjects, totalling 12 credit points, and two subjects, totalling 24 credit points. Students who have completed the core online subjects only have to complete two subjects (24 credit points). The course may be completed in one session of full-time study. This course in normally available in Summer session each year.

Standard entry requirements

  • Applicants must have completed a UTS recognised bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies. Applicants without a degree require eight years' full-time relevant work experience and evidence of a general capacity to undertake tertiary education. The English proficiency requirement for local applicants with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0
  • Or TOEFL: paper based: 550-583 overall with TWE of 4.5, internet based: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21
  • Or AE5: Pass
  • Or PTE: 58-64
  • Or CAE: 176-184.
