The Bachelor of Commerce offers a foundation year that covers all core disciplines of business, giving students a solid understanding of issues facing business today. The degree is designed for students who would like to major in one or more of the principal areas of commerce. UOW offers 11 majors specialisations in this degree. You will receive relevant industry-driven content and a firm foundation in the principles of ethical commerce, preparing you to succeed in your chosen career, and for the next generation of leadership roles. In every major, you will undertake a final-year capstone subject that lets you apply everything you have learnt in collaboration with students from other disciplines. Plus, you have the option of applying for an internship that provides work-integrated learning. UOW also offers the Bachelor of Commerce (Dean's Scholar) program. The degree is for high achieving students who wish to undertake a degree in the principal areas of business and commerce and would like to pursue a career in business or a specific professional discipline. You will develop the skills required to complete a research project which is also suitable if you wish to continue your studies through the completion of honours and/or research degrees. As a Dean's Scholar, you will receive academic mentoring and have opportunities to attend workshops and seminars. The degree includes a book allowance, extended library borrowing rights, and access to a study space. You must maintain a distinction average across all subjects to continue in the course.

Entry Requirements:

DOMESTIC STUDENTS - ATAR-BASED ADMISSION OPTIONS Guaranteed entry selection ranks Entry to this course can be gained with: Minimum ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) International Baccalaureate (IB) Interstate equivalent (such as the Victorian ENTER or Queensland OP) Results in an overseas qualification deemed equivalent to Australian year 12. The minimum score for guaranteed entry to the Bachelor of Commerce (or for consideration if this course has limited places) is an ATAR-Selection Rank of 75 or an IB of 26. For the Bachelor of Commerce (Dean's Scholar) an ATAR-Selection Rank of 93 or an IB of 35 is required to be considered for this degree. This includes the effect of adjustment factors. Adjustment factors, such as the subjects you are studying, the area in which you live or equity and access schemes, are taken into consideration and these will be combined with your ATAR to adjust your selection rank and make it higher than your ATAR. These adjustments used to be called bonus points. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS Applicants need to have achieved the required score in a qualification equivalent to the completion of 13 years of schooling in Australia. In order to succeed in your chosen course, it is assumed you have completed relevant subjects in your senior high school studies or other relevant qualifications. This is particularly important for degrees which have a strong basis in Mathematics or Science.

Structure:

3 years full-time or a part-time equivalent (144 credit points).The program involves a common core of first-year subjects plus an integrating subject plus the flexibility to choose from one of 11 majors. Students can also choose a double major, or a major and a minor.

If you can demonstrate that you have met the learning outcomes for our subjects through prior learning, such as previous tertiary or TAFE qualifications, you may be eligible for credit towards your degree. Undergraduate

The Faculty of Business at UOW is renowned for producing graduates with well-developed analytical and interpersonal skills, ethical business decision-making knowledge, and a thorough grounding in the theory and practical application of their chosen business study area. We develop students into professionals, managers and business leaders who work in a myriad of different sectors, both nationally and globally.

Our courses are delivered at our Wollongong, Sydney CBD, Southern Sydney, Sydney city, Batemans Bay, Bega, Southern Highlands and Shoalhaven campuses.

Our degrees offer students maximum flexibility, with specialisations in the areas of accountancy, business innovation, business law, economics, finance, financial planning, human resource management, international business, international economics, management, marketing, public relations, quantitative analysis in economics and supply chain management. There are also three specialised degrees combined with TAFE study in tourism, events and hospitality.

Studying a business degree will also give you the opportunity to study abroad for six months. UOW partners with more than 100 overseas educational institutions, which you can choose from when selecting a study destination.

From our Sydney CBD campus, we offer the Bachelor of Accounting and Financial Services. This program has an exclusive intake of 40 students each year. The small class sizes allow for maximum learning, industry projects and development opportunities where you will connect with firms and businesses directly related to your degree.

Postgraduate

The Sydney Business School is the graduate school of the Faculty of Business and offers high quality postgraduate business programs at the Sydney CBD Campus located at Circular Quay in Sydney, and UOW’s main campus in Wollongong.
