The Bachelor of Commerce Global (Honours) is a unique degree offering the best and brightest students the opportunity to gain a truly global study experience and real-world professional skills. This degree offers two majors, Finance and Accounting. After completion of a foundation year at the Wollongong campus covering the core disciplines of business, students will study advanced finance or accounting topics. Industry engagement is an integral component of this degree with the opportunity to undertake an internship each year for the first three years of the degree. For the Finance major students will learn the theoretical knowledge and tools demanded by employers in all sections of the world economy: investment, financial markets, financial modelling and portfolio analysis. They will explore corporate finance, including financial strategies, security analysis and portfolio management. For the accounting, major topics include financial reporting, auditing, management, accounting and information systems in accounting. Students will learn about financial accounting in its organisational, social and political contexts as well as study relevant law subjects (including taxation law and law of business organisations) to be eligible for associate membership of professional accounting bodies.

Structure

  • 4 years full time. Students undertake their second year of study at three University of Wollongong global locations
  • PSB Academy in Singapore, CCCU in Hong Kong and UOW in Dubai. The third year and fourth, and final year of honours study will be completed at the Wollongong campus. For both majors you will also complete an honours thesis and have the opportunity to undertake multiple internships over the course of your studies.

Standard entry requirements

DOMESTIC STUDENTS - ATAR-BASED ADMISSION OPTIONS Guaranteed entry selection ranks. Entry for the Bachelor of Commerce Global Honours is based on a combination of both academic results and other criteria. Applicants are assessed on a combination of: Their ATAR-SR, or International Baccalaureate (IB), or Interstate equivalent (such as the Victorian ENTER or Queensland OP), or Results in an overseas qualification deemed equivalent to Australian year 12, and they will also need to submit a written application and undertake an interview. The minimum score for guaranteed entry (or for consideration if this course has limited places) is an ATAR-Selection Rank of 95 or an IB of 37. This includes the effect of adjustment factors. Adjustment factors Adjustment factors, such as the subjects you are studying, the area in which you live or equity and access schemes, are taken into consideration and these will be combined with your ATAR to adjust your selection rank and make it higher than your ATAR. These adjustments used to be called bonus points. ASSUMED KNOWLEDGE AND RECOMMENDED STUDIES The University assumes students will have studied any 2 units of English. This degree is not available to international applicants

Study pathways

If applicants can demonstrate they have met the learning outcomes for UOW subjects through prior learning, such as previous tertiary or TAFE qualifications, they may be eligible for credit towards their degree. Where relevant to the UOW degree, specified credit may be given for specific subject(s); where not relevant to the degree, unspecified credit may be awarded. Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Economics and Finance students who have passed all subjects and have a WAM of 80 at the end of their first session (Autumn), will be eligible to apply for entry into the degree. Applicants will be required to submit a one page written application and undertake an interview.
