Graduate Certificate in Mining Engineering
The School of Mining Engineering offers a Graduate Certificate in Mining Engineering (local students only) to allow a more flexible entry mode for applicants who have limited tertiary qualifications. Admission will be considered on an individual basis and will be based on academic qualifications and level of experience within the mining industry. Students with at least four years of relevant responsible industry experience and vocational certificates may also gain entry with permission based on a portfolio and interview.

Structure
The Graduate Certificate in Mining Engineering requires 24 UOC. Students must do the stream Mining Engineering. Student enrolment in core and elective courses must be consistent with the Stream rules. Please note that some electives may be offered only every two years. Students must choose three core courses from 'Foundation Disciplinary Knowledge Courses' and 'Advanced Disciplinary Knowledge Courses' lists.

Entry requirements
- Entry to a Graduate Certificate will be considered on an individual basis for those with relevant mining industry experience (Entry 1) or for those re-training from other technical disciplines (Entry 2). Please refer to UNSW handbook for the Entry 1 and 2 details. The Graduate Certificate can be an entry point for obtaining foundational qualifications in Mining Engineering, and for articulating to a Graduate Diploma and a Masters degree, with satisfactory academic performance. A portfolio is to be provided to support the application for postgraduate coursework study.
Study Pathways
Students may be eligible to articulate to a Graduate Diploma Mining Engineering and then to a Masters in Mining Engineering depending upon satisfactory academic progress. This usually requires maintaining at least a credit average in each course attempted.
