The Bachelor of Laws / Bachelor of Business offers students the flexibility and the professional development needed to do this. This double degree meets academic and professional requirements for graduates to be admitted to legal practice in Australia. It also offers graduates the opportunity to develop their skill, knowledge and professional acumen across a range of business specialisations, preparing them for careers in the legal community, business and government. This course provides a focus on both practical and theoretical learning, both in legal profession and in other business settings.

Entry Requirements:

VCE English requirements: Units 3 and 4 - a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or 25 in any other English.

Structure:

480 credit points consisting of 264 credit points of core law units of study, 24 credit points of law electives, 84 credit points of core business units, 108 credit points of Business Challenge units.

All applicants are encouraged to complete the law supplementary form which may be used to adjust the Selection Rank. Students in any Bachelor of Laws may apply to transfer into the Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree once they have completed a minimum 192 credit points and have attained an average mark of Distinction or above i.e. 70-100%. Applicants will be assessed on the highest grades achieved in the top 12 Law units. Students will be further assessed on an outline of a proposed thesis topic and availability of a college based or college affiliated supervisor. Successful applicants will enrol in both Advanced Research Legal Methods and Advanced Legal Research Dissertation instead of 24 credit points of law electives.

Victoria University is the only university in Australia to use the block teaching model, which has been in operation throughout Sweden and parts of North America for more than four decades.

First-year and second-year students at Victoria University complete one subject every four weeks, are assessed, and then proceed to the next four-week unit. Immersion in each subject allows students to master it, rather than juggling four units at once. From 2020, all students will be taught in this way.

Victoria University is one of only six Australian universities to combine higher education and vocational and further education with its Victoria University Polytechnic, which is based on multiple university campuses. The Polytechnic creates pathways direct to the workforce or to university degrees.

VU College offers English language courses, pathway diplomas and courses for international students at its Melbourne and Sydney campuses as well as offshore with international education partners.
