This qualification provides the training for professional accounting job roles in financial services and other industries. It contributes to, but does not fully meet, educational requirements for providing tax agent services. Skills cover external financial reporting, tax accounting, internal controls, financial performance and management.

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Provide financial and business performance information; Prepare tax documentation for individuals; Manage budgets and forecasts; Prepare financial reports for corporate entities; Implement and maintain internal control procedures; Provide management accounting information. Electives: Prepare financial reports; Prepare and administer tax documentation for legal entities; Evaluate business performance; Comply with financial services legislation and industry codes of practice; Prepare financial reports to meet statutory requirements; Prepare financial forecasts and projections; plus more.

Students wishing to access VET Student Loans are required to demonstrate satisfactory reading, writing and numeracy skills, or provide evidence of successful completion of SACE Stage 2 or equivalent Australian Year 12 certificate, or completion of Certificate IV or above, as part of course counselling before enrolling.

Victoria University is the only university in Australia to use the block teaching model, which has been in operation throughout Sweden and parts of North America for more than four decades.

First-year and second-year students at Victoria University complete one subject every four weeks, are assessed, and then proceed to the next four-week unit. Immersion in each subject allows students to master it, rather than juggling four units at once. From 2020, all students will be taught in this way.

Victoria University is one of only six Australian universities to combine higher education and vocational and further education with its Victoria University Polytechnic, which is based on multiple university campuses. The Polytechnic creates pathways direct to the workforce or to university degrees.

VU College offers English language courses, pathway diplomas and courses for international students at its Melbourne and Sydney campuses as well as offshore with international education partners.
