EJ Dibbs SCEM Scholarship for Women

I am delighted to provide scholarships to two worthy students to assist them with their studies at Western Sydney University. Through the first scholarship, I hope to encourage a talented female student to unlock her potential in the technology and/or engineering spheres. These are critical areas now and for the future and ones in which women are still under represented. Through the second scholarship, I want to support a business student to embrace their interest in business and our economy. Through my own corporate law career, having a father who ran his own legal firm and being married to an entrepreneur, I have a strong appreciation for the importance of small, medium and large businesses. Sound, knowledgeable and ethical business leaders are essential to the future of Australia and our position globally. I hope that these scholarships will enable the recipients not only to pursue their career dreams but also to embrace every aspect of life at Western Sydney University from academic challenge and enlightenment, to extra curricular activities to leadership opportunities. Ms Elizabeth Dibbs is the Western Sydney University Pro Chancellor (to 31 December 2017) and Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee. Elizabeth was a Partner and General Counsel of PriceWaterhouseCoopers and previously worked with major law firms Mallesons Stephen Jaques (Sydney) and Linklaters & Paines (London). Liz now works as a non-executive director in the NFP and Government sectors. She is Chair of United Way Australia and a Governor of the Centenary Institute and Trustee of its Foundation. She has also been a Council Member of Chief Executive Women and Chair of its Scholarship Committee (2012-June 2015), President of the YWCA NSW (2007-2011) and a director of YWCA Australia (2009-2013). Liz holds a Bachelor of Arts and Law (University Medal) from Sydney University and a Master of Laws (Hons 1) from Cambridge University.
