Still unsure about where and what to study in 2022?
Brought to you by Macquarie University
After a crazy year, the HSC is finally over, and you made it! You should feel proud of yourself for your persistence in the face of unprecedented challenges.
But after two years of uncertainty, it makes sense if you’re not quite sure where and what you would like to study in 2022.
Here are some things to consider.
Are you looking for a plain vanilla degree, or something a bit different?
Deep down, you know what you like to do — and that may be as unique as you are. A university that offers courses that can be personalised to match your career ambitions will help make you more employable when you graduate.
For example, at Macquarie University — ranked in the top 1% of universities in the world — its innovative curriculum includes many courses that are co-designed with industry to ensure they are relevant and up to date. You can also double your expertise by studying for two degrees at the same time — Macquarie lets you build your own double degree by choosing the combination that you think will best kickstart your career.
Is practical experience part of the journey?
Employers are looking for more than just discipline knowledge – they want practical experience. A university that offers inbuilt internships and other practical experience will help provide the valuable, transferable skills employers are looking for.
Is having a great time just as important as kicking your learning goals?
The connections and memories made at university can pay a lifetime of dividends, so student life is one of the most important parts of any university journey. Look for a uni that offers fabulous food outlets, buzzing bars and exciting events, as well as exceptional teaching and learning facilities to ensure you are receiving the best possible education, and attractive study spaces, park-like grounds and abundant sporting facilities.
Is the uni easy to get to?
Uni life is busy enough, so you’ll want to make things easier by choosing a centrally located campus with great public transport connections. Macquarie University, for example, is located in the economic powerhouse of Macquarie Park, is opposite Macquarie Shopping Centre and has its own metro station.
Will you get help to find a job once uni is finished?
You also want to think about life after university — when you’re ready to start your career. A lot of unis provide degrees, but no career support after you graduate. Macquarie’s unique student employment service provides support to help you kickstart your career for up to a year after you graduate.
Still have more questions?
The best thing to do is speak to an expert. Macquarie University will be hosting its annual Explore your Options events from 13–23 December 2021 and 17–28 January 2022.
You’ll be able to book a 1:1 consultation with one of our friendly students to find answers to any other questions you may have. You’ll also be able to take a campus tour to discover for yourself if you’re ready to become a part of ‘Club Mac’!
