2021 Ratings: The best universities for accounting

Accountants play an active role in the business world and can work in any industry or sector. The field covers many different workplaces, roles and specialisations and there is much call for skill in making deals, getting on with people and thinking in big strategic terms.

Skills required for an accountant include bookkeeping, statistics and finance. This will be useful in several industries, where accountants provide businesses financial information to make business decisions.

These ratings look at specific strengths of Australian universities, giving insight to support and guide your decision-making when choosing a university. You can view the rankings in terms of how each university performs overall, or you can narrow down by field of study and state.

We looked at which Australian universities with accounting degrees performed best in learning resources, graduate salary and skills development.

Learning Resources

This rating looks at the proportion of students who were satisfied with the learning resources provided by their institution. The top spot goes to Bond University with 93.8% satisfaction rate, with Deakin University placing second with 91%.

Graduate Salary

This rating compares the median salary of graduates from different universities. University of New England placed highest with a median graduate salary of $75,000, followed by Federation University, where the median graduate salary for engineering students is $68,000.

Skills Development

This rating looks at the proportion of students who were satisfied with the skill development they experienced through their studies. First place goes toBond University with a 92.4% satisfaction rate, and second goes to The University of Notre Dame with 86%.
