Diploma of Sport Management
The Diploma of Sport Management is a one-year, full-time program delivered through Carlton College of Sport in partnership with La Trobe University combining academic study at IKON Park and La Trobe Bundoora with real-world industry exposure. Students build foundational skills across sport management, marketing, facility operations, governance, HR and fan engagement, with a strong focus on how AI is transforming analytics, personalisation and decision-making in sport. The course includes an optional 100-hour industry placement with Carlton Football Club and its partners, giving students direct exposure to AFL/AFLW operations, marketing and club administration. No ATAR is required for entry, making it an accessible pathway into sport business careers such as Event Coordinator, Marketing Coordinator, Club Administrator and Fan Engagement Officer. Graduates gain direct enrolment into Year 2 of the Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management, plus access to further La Trobe bachelor programs with recognition of prior learning.

- Police Record Check: Applicants will be required to hold a valid National Police Record Check for professional placements as part of this course. Working with Children Check: Applicants will be required to hold a valid Working with Children (WWC) Check prior to undertaking professional placements as part of this course. First Aid / CPR Certificate: First Aid and/or CPR certification is required to meet the professional requirements of the diploma. Applicants with recent secondary education (within the last two years) - Prerequisite: VCE: Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL. Applicants with work and life experience, Applicants with vocational education and training (VET) study, Applicants with higher education study - Prerequisite: Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites. Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) La Trobe will consider STAT Multiple Choice results for applicants where: the course has an English prerequisite equivalent to VCE: Units 3 and 4: a study score of 20 in English other than EAL, and/or Units 3 and 4: a study score of 20 in Further Mathematics, and, Higher Education studies do not meet the course prerequisites, or the course requirements through Work Recognition are not met, or Year 12 or equivalent has not been successfully completed. Work Recognition: Applicants seeking consideration via Work Recognition must complete all requirements listed on the La Trobe University Work Recognition webpage and submit a Personal Statement, including relevant work experience and reasons for applying for this course.
