Entry requirements
- The simplest, most common way into the CA Program is to apply for the CA Program and provisional membership of CA ANZ, meeting one of the following academic entry requirements:
- A CA ANZ accredited degree with sufficient competence area coverage to allow enrolment into the Ethics and Business (EB) subject OR
- A non-accredited degree that has been assessed as equivalent to an AU or NZ Bachelor’s degree (AQF level 7 Bachelor's degree or higher) with sufficient competence area coverage to allow enrolment into the Ethics and Business (EB) subject. If your non-accredited degree was not delivered in English, you will need to provide evidence of English language competence. By completing a CA ANZ accredited degree with passes in subjects which cover specific competence areas.
- Alternative entry pathways are available for individuals who hold a higher education or vocational education qualification that is not CA ANZ accredited, and for high school graduates.
Recognition
CA Program candidates benefit from CA ANZ’s membership of the Global Accounting Alliance (GAA) connecting you to a network of 1.8 million professionals across 180 countries and Chartered Accountants Worldwide (CAW). CA ANZ is also the only professional accounting body in Australia registered as a Higher Education Provider, offering an academic qualification that is recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and comparable qualification frameworks globally, including the NZQCF, unlocking exciting future study options across the globe. (Registered Institute of Higher Education, TEQSA Provider ID: PRV12024).
Study Pathways
In mid 2025, CA ANZ will introduce more flexible, accessible, and cost-effective pathways into its globally recognised CA Program. While accredited degrees in accounting, finance, and business will continue to be the primary pathway for most candidates, the new alternate pathway options recognise that not everyone has the means or opportunity to complete undergraduate higher education studies. CA ANZ believes this should not be a barrier to attaining the prestigious CA designation by completing the CA Program. Depending on prior education and work experience, individuals will be able to enter CA ANZ’s CA Fundamentals or CA Foundations pathways and undertake those subjects needed to qualify for entry into the CA Program, while those with accredited degrees will continue to progress directly into the CA Program. CA ANZ recognises relevant previous learning and/or experience that you may have. You will need to provide evidence of your previous study and any relevant work experience.
