Chisholm's unique Bachelor of Community Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs will give you the skills you need to provide non-clinical services to specialists such as psychiatrists, nurses and social workers. You'll gain an in-depth understanding of issues relating to alcohol and other drugs, mental health practice, community development and counselling processes. You'll also learn about the legal and ethical frameworks, working with children and youth, intervention strategies, client advocacy and working in aged care. This program has been designed to meet the growing need for highly trained practitioners in the field. With direct input from stakeholders in areas of mental health and AOD, the degree has been developed in close consultation with practitioners, academics, professional bodies and policy makers at both state and federal government levels. Applications are welcome from both local and interstate applicants for students that meet the entry requirements. Students who have successfully completed the dual Diploma of Mental Health/Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs will be guaranteed entry.

Standard entry requirements
Applicants are required to complete a written test to assess academic skills related to this course., Applicants are required to participate in an interview (phone or face-to-face) for a further assessment of suitability for this course. The focus is on learning more about you and your experiences relevant to counselling in this field., Applicants may be required to sit the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT), Applicants with a Higher Education qualification - Degree-qualified students who meet the interview and written task requirements are guaranteed entry into this course., Applicants with overseas qualifications - All overseas qualifications will be assessed according to Chisholm's RPL/Credit Transfer policy., Applicants with recent secondary education (within the past two years) - Year 12 (VCE or Australian equivalent). There is no minimum ATAR score for VCE (or equivalent)., Applicants with work and life experience - Mature age with three years' full time or six years' part time in a related field, have short course or work-based learning, or other applicable life experience.
