Master of Physiotherapy Practice

Physiotherapists assess, diagnose and treat patients with movement disorders or disabilities, including those with temporary or long-term injuries and musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiorespiratory conditions. Physiotherapists use a range of skills, including education and advice, movement or exercise prescription and manual therapy with the aim of assisting people to achieve their goals for recovery, activity, participation and quality of life. Physiotherapists may work independently or as members of multidisciplinary healthcare teams. They are active in the prevention of illness and injury and in the promotion of health, and are also involved in clinical research, movement rehabilitation, ergonomics and the management of healthcare organizations.

Entry requirements

  • Postgraduate: Prerequisites - Course specific requirements - Applicants must have completed their degree within the last five years.
  • Postgraduate: Prerequisites - Course specific requirements - Specialisation - Compulsory: Tertiary-level subjects in musculoskeletal anatomy (2 units) and human physiology (1 unit). Specialisation - Recommended: Tertiary-level subjects in neuroanatomy, pathophysiology, psychology, pharmacology, evidence-based practice, research methods or statistics, determinants of health, human movement, biomechanics, communication or education are also desirable.
  • Postgraduate: Prerequisites - Course specific requirements - WAM - Weighted Average Mark (WAM) at least 70% Additional Information regarding WAM and Early Conditional Offers
  • Postgraduate: Prerequisites - Undergraduate requirements - Successful completion of an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent).
  • International: IELTS - 7.0 < 7.0 - 7.0 IELTS (Academic) with no individual band less than 7.0.
