When you successfully complete the Diploma of Teacher Education, you could progress to a Bachelor of Education (Primary), Bachelor of Education (Secondary) or Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary Education. You'll also receive advanced standing for up to one year of full-time study. You'll develop solid foundations in digital learning, literacy, numeracy and learning contexts - skills that will serve you throughout your teaching career.

Structure

To qualify for the award of Diploma of Teacher Education, students must complete 120 credit points of study in total, consisting of: 120 core credit points

Standard entry requirements

  • Recent secondary education - VTAC prerequisite: Year 12 English prerequisite (20) - Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.
  • Recent secondary education - UAC prerequisite: Year 12 English prerequisite (Band 2) - equivalent to VCE 20 - One of English Standard, English Advanced (Band 2), English as an Additional Language or Dialect (Band 3).
  • Non Year 12 - Vocational Education & Training: VET prerequisites - Course specific requirements - Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.
  • Non Year 12 - Higher Education study: HE prerequisites - Course specific requirements - Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.
