Extending Mathematical Understanding (EMU) is a research-based specialist teacher intervention program that has been shown to improve children’s knowledge and confidence with mathematics. This field-based and six-day program provides teachers with expertise and leadership in mathematical learning.

Standard entry requirements

A minimum qualification of BEd degree or equivalent and you must be a highly effective mathematics teacher with potential for professional leadership.You should be familiar with, and have a working knowledge of, the Mathematics Assessment Interview (also known as the Mathematics Online Interview and the Early Years Numeracy Interview).You must have the support of your principal to deliver the program in your school and agreement for 5 x 45 minutes each week to complete the field based learning component (30 minutes face to face plus 15 minutes preparation and evaluation).
