This double degree integrates two important and popular areas of study - Business and Law. This course provides business graduates with the academic qualifications to practice law. Students will gain business knowledge and skills that will provide a commercial perspective suited to specialist areas such as corporate law, company takeovers, corporate governance, taxation law and intellectual property law. Graduates will have developed legal skills including legal analysis, negotiation, dispute resolution and research and are able to think critically and creatively about the law from different perspectives.

Structure

This course consists of 528 credit points (43 units). The business component comprises of 16 units, consisting of 8 core units and 8 major units. The LLB (Honours), comprises of 27 units made up of 19 core units, including units based upon the 'Priestly 11' required for admission to legal practice in Australia and 8 elective units.

  • Assumed knowledge: English, or Literature, or English and Literature, or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 & 4, C)
  • And for Accountancy, Finance, Economics, and Marketing majors: General Mathematics, or Mathematical Methods, or Specialist Mathematics (Units 3 & 4, C).

Pathways to postgraduate degrees are available. Students may be able to claim advanced standing on the basis of completed or partially completed studies or experience, QUT advanced standing rules apply.
