In the Master of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), you will explore the application of scientific principles to understand risks to the safety of people in workplaces, and the actions required to control them. It is a multidisciplinary profession with applications in all industries and commerce. Both community expectation and government legislation demand an increasingly higher level of protection for employees and the community from risks that threaten their safety and health. Structure

As part of your studies, you have the option to specialise in three different streams, or specialisations: occupational hygiene, construction safety, or human factors and ergnomics.

Entry requirements

  • Successfully completed an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent overseas qualification) or A minimum of 8 years professional work experience in a related industry. Applicants with professional experience at a senior level that is less than 8 years may also be considered.

Recognition

Graduates of the Graduate Diploma or Master, with appropriate experience, can apply for Professional Membership of the Safety Institute of Australia. The Graduate Diploma is accredited by the Australian OHS Education Accreditation Board (AOHSEAB).

Study Pathways

This is an articulated program leading from graduate certificate to graduate diploma to master. Entry into the master degree requires a distinction average achieved in the grad dip, the availability of places, and a specific topic for research to be undertaken.
