Master of Statistics and Operations Research
The program combines statistics fundamentals and operations research to find solutions to industry problems. Students are exposed to the techniques scientists, market researchers, financial analysts, economists and consultants use in various commercial and government organisations. The program will introduce students to contemporary statistical and operations research software and give the students in-depth understanding of processes involved. There are two major areas from which the student can select courses during the program: statistics and operations research. Students will acquire a basic knowledge in both areas.

- An Australian bachelor degree in any discipline, or equivalent.
Recognition
Statistical Society of Australia Inc. (SSAI) Australian Society for Operations Research (ASOR) American Statistical Association (ASA) Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS).
Study Pathways
If applicants have successfully completed bachelor degree or above level qualifications majoring in analytics, statistics, operations research, information technologies, information security, computer science, geospatial science or a relevant discipline you will be eligible for exemptions. If students choose to exit this degree after completing 96 credit points (equivalent to two semesters full time study), students will eligible to be awarded the Graduate Diploma in Statistics and Operations Research (GD120). Note that the exemptions mentioned above cannot be used to exit with a Graduate Diploma. Upon completion of the program, if students wish to continue their studies with a PhD degree, may need to have completed MATH1332 Minor Thesis.
