This course trains students to:* ensure the currency of plans and specifications and read and interpret them for application to estimation, planning and related supervisory activities.* interpret and apply the requirements of the National Construction Code (NCC) and other relevant codes and standards, determine the nature of buildings according to use and arrangement, determine alternative solutions to design and construction problems, and determine the level of fire resistance required, for the construction of low-rise residential buildings, described as Class 1 and 10, and commercial buildings, described as Classes 2 to 9 with a gross floor area not exceeding 2000m2, not including Type A or Type B construction.
