This program will provide initial knowledge and skills for the professional practice of language teaching. It intends to develop understanding of teaching methodology and of the use of linguistic knowledge in the classroom. An essential part of the course is the requirement to undertake observation of classrooms and engage in teaching practice. On completion students should be able to teach learners confidently and competently, reflect critically on their teaching, and demonstrate intercultural awareness. This qualification may be used overseas and in Australia, but not in the Australian government school systems.
