Stream A: For Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registered teachers seeking further recognition as a TESOL specialist. Stream B: For students who do not require VIT recognition for TESOL, such as those intending to teach English overseas, or qualified TESOL teachers who want to extend their professional knowledge and skills.
Stream A: 100 points of coursework, comprising 75 points of compulsory subjects, including a capstone component, supervised teaching placements and 25 points of elective subjects. Stream B: 100 points of coursework, comprising 25 points of compulsory subjects, including a capstone component and 75 points of elective subjects (excludes supervised teaching placements).
Standard entry requirements
A four-year education degree, or equivalent, or a four-year undergraduate degree with a significant component of English language studies, or equivalent, or An undergraduate degree in any discipline and least 50 credit points, or equivalent, of graduate study in education. Stream A applicants must be eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT). Applicants without a relevant degree but with at least 6 years relevant work experience are encouraged to provide a CV with their application to be considered.
Graduates of Stream A are eligible to register with the Victorian Institute of Teaching as a teacher of TESOL.
