The Master of Special and Inclusive Education is a coursework program intended for practising teachers and others with relevant experience in prevention and intervention services who wish to gain postgraduate professional qualifications in special and inclusive education. The program blends theory, research and practice, with an emphasis on applying evidence-based approaches to support the learning and development of students with additional needs and those at risk.

Students are required to successfully complete 80 units of approved study according to the specialistion chosen as follows: General Special Education - consisting of 30 units of core courses, 30 units of compulsory courses and 20 units of directed courses. Early Childhood - consisting of 30 units of core courses, 40 units of compulsory courses and 10 units of directed courses. Emotional Disturbance/Behaviour Problems - consisting of 30 units of core courses, 40 units of compulsory courses and 10 units of directed courses. Deaf Studies and Deaf Education - consisting of 30 units of core courses and 50 units of compulsory courses.
- General Special Education, Early Childhood, Emotional Disturbance and Behaviour Problems, and Deaf Studies and Deaf Education.
Standard entry requirements
- Bachelor Honours Degree in education/teaching, psychology, disability studies, allied health or a related discipline OR 4-year Bachelor Degree in education/teaching OR Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in a relevant field OR 3-year Bachelor Degree in education/teaching, psychology, disability studies, allied health or a related discipline, plus 1 year experience working in a relevant field including: CV outlining relevant work experience in a relevant field
- And Statement(s) of Service confirming one (1) year of experience in a relevant field OR Advanced Diploma or Diploma in education/teaching with a minimum of 10 years teaching experience, including: CV outlining relevant educational experience
- And Statement(s) of Service for ten (10) years minimum.
NSW Educational Standards Authority (NESA), NSW Department of Education. Victorian DET endorsed provider for Deaf Education and Deaf Studies.
Completion of the Graduate Certificate in Education is a pathway to this degree.

Students requiring in-school experience in Special or Inclusive placements should complete EDUC6109 as a Directed course in their program of study. International Student Visa holders must study the General Special Education specialisation.
