The Diploma is a qualification in its own right, and students can stop there if they want to. But it is also a pathway to a Bachelor degree, which means that the 8 courses undertaken can count towards another degree. Students will complete 8 courses that will establish environmental concepts that can be applied in the workplace to assist in the management of natural resources in a sustainable manner. After completing the Diploma of Science (Environment and Sustainability or Physical Sciences), students can continue their studies with the Bachelor of Science (Environment and Sustainability or Physical Sciences).

Structure

8 units: 2 core units of Foundation Studies with 4 units chosen from either a specified major or from level 1 or 2 courses included in the Diploma of Science or the Bachelor of Science, with two additional elective units chosen from any level 1 or 2 course offered by the University of Southern Queensland, subject to Faculty approval.

Standard entry requirements

  • Have achieved a minimum ATAR of 61.50, or equivalent qualification

Study pathways

Upon successful completion of the Diploma of Science (Environment and Sustainability) students have the opportunity to articulate directly into the Bachelor of Science (Environment and Sustainability). Upon successful completion of the Diploma of Science (Physical Sciences) students have the opportunity to articulate directly into the Bachelor of Science (Physical Sciences). Students articulating into the Bachelor of Science will be given exemptions for eight courses completed in their specialisation as part of the Diploma of Science.
