Advance your knowledge of clinical problems in childhood, adolescence and adulthood, as well your understanding of evidence-based psychological assessments and interventions and the ethics related to your work. Combining coursework, clinical practice and research, this course prepares you for registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. Graduates are eligible to apply for psychologists positions, including clinical psychologist positions in either the public or private sectors.

Structure

In line with the program approval guidelines of APAC and the APS College of Clinical Psychologists, there are three main components in the program: coursework, research dissertation and practical placement. This degree is structured to allow the integration of learning experiences across these components.

Standard entry requirements

The minimum entry requirement for this program is an APAC accredited fourth year degree in Psychology (Honours or Graduate Diploma) at Distinction average (70%). Applicants must also satisfy the personal qualities assessment (via referee reports and interview). Students who have completed their undergraduate studies overseas must apply to the Australian Psychological Society to have their degree assessed (see www.psychology.org.au/membership/qualifications/). We are unable to consider an application without the degree being recognised by the APS as equivalent to Australian courses.

Recognition

This program is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) and fulfils the requirements for associate membership of the Clinical College of the Psychology Board of Australia.

Study pathways

Upon completion of this program, graduates would be eligible to for associate membership of the College of Clinical Psychologists and full registration with the Psychologists Registration Board of Victoria.
