Indigenous Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship (ICECS)

The Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarships (ICECS) are available to Indigenous students to assist with the high costs of undertaking higher education. While the ICECS have been replaced by the Student Start-Up Scholarships (administered by Centrelink), they will continue to be offered to Indigenous students in their existing form.

Eligibility

Applicants must: identify as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; be accepted as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander by the community, in which they live or have lived; be enrolled full-time at Flinders University in an undergraduate or postgraduate course of study or the Foundation Studies program; and not be in receipt of a Student Start-up Scholarship or Student Start-up Loan (available to ABSTUDY, Austudy and Youth Allowance recipients). Selection is based on academic merit and financial need.

Amount $2,637

The scholarship is valued at $2,637 per year (2017 rate: indexed annually) for a maximum of 4 years.
