The Diploma in Mathematical Sciences enables you to gain a mathematics qualification while completing an undergraduate degree. You will use and develop your mathematical skills to compliment your studies with high-level numerical and modelling skills that can be applied across almost every areas of employment and are always in demand.
Structure
Students undertake the Diploma in Mathematical Sciences together with an undergraduate degree, to make a total program of between 350 and 400 points. Up to 50 points of appropriate Mathematics and Statistics subjects in the undergraduate degree program may also be attributed to the Diploma.

Standard entry requirements
It is recommended that you complete your first year of study including two subjects from those on which the Diploma is built before applying. If it is not possible to do two first year subjects in the mathematics and statistics major in first year you will need to apply for entry at the commencement of first year. In this case, students must have completed VCE Mathematical Methods 3/4 or equivalent. Entry will be competitive, based on achievement in VCE Mathematical Methods 3/4 (or equivalent) and, if taken, VCE Specialist Mathematics 3/4 or equivalent.
Study pathways
Students who complete the Diploma are eligible for postgraduate programs in mathematics or statistics.

Further information
This diploma is studied concurrently on a part-time basis with a bachelors degree. Students completing the fast-track option apply for the Diploma in the beginning of second year. Others generally apply at the beginning of first year.
