University of New England UNE

Type of institution: University/Higher Education Institution
Level: Postgraduate
CRICOS: 00003G

This program provides an opportunity for those who are looking for a change of direction in their career or for those who want to enhance their IT qualifications. Those seeking a change of direction can come in without any background in IT and graduate with a sound knowledge and understanding of IT qualifying them for employment in a broad range of positions in private industry, government agencies or research organisations which have an IT requirement. Similarly, this course provides candidates who have an IT background with the opportunity to update their qualifications, with a number of entry options that recognise industry experience and previous study. The course offers considerable depth and flexibility, allowing students to select from units covering specialised topics such as computer networks and security, artificial intelligence, management information systems, user experience design and web programming. All units are delivered both on and off campus, using a variety of educational technologies including video lectures, online discussion forums and access to campus servers through remote desktop facilities. The course also allows students to complete either a research project, which requires submission of a thesis, or an information and communications technology project relating to a real-life case.
