This qualification is part of the Health Training Package. It reflects the role of pre-hospital and out-of-hospital workers employed by State/Territory ambulance authorities, the Australian Defence Force and the private sector to provide patient assessment, healthcare and transport services. These workers possess clinical skills and theoretical knowledge and provide clinical assessment and pre-hospital and out-of-hospital interventions to patients in an emergency, including providing advanced skills in life support. It applies to a variety of roles.

Structure:

17 units: 9 core; 8 elective

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Confirm physical health status; Follow procedures for routine safe removal of patient; Assess and deliver standard clinical care; Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures; Communicate in complex situations to support health; Follow safe work practices for direct client care; plus more. Electives: Transport emergency patients; Implement safe access and egress in an emergency; Manage a routine non-emergency scene; Contribute to managing the scene of an emergency; Manage and coordinate resources for emergency operations; Transport non-emergency patients under operational conditions; plus more.

Further information:

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 160 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency.
