Graduate Diploma of Traumatic Stress Management

The Graduate Diploma of Traumatic Stress Management will assist students to work with colleagues and/or clients in a workplace setting and recognise the symptoms and outcomes of chronic stress and trauma. The course will examine the physiological and psychological factors which underpin stress and trauma. There will also be the opportunity to explore a range of intervention and management strategies and referral pathways. The course, designed for service personnel and allied health practitioners, will provide the detailed knowledge and practical skills required to become competent at working with colleagues or clients, who may be experiencing adverse symptoms associated with chronic stress or trauma exposure, or who have received a diagnosis of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. This course draws on evidence-based theories, models, and best practices from disciplines including psychology, coaching, health promotion, and counselling.

Entry Requirements:

Australian Bachelor degree, or equivalent qualification, in a relevant discipline from a recognised tertiary institution; and 5 years professional experience in one or a combination of the following areas: clinical experience, industry related short course experience or peer support management. Relevant disciplines include: psychology, social work or a health-related science. English language requirements apply.

Letters of employment and qualifications must be supplied to demonstrate professional experience. Letters of employment must be outlined on a company letterhead and be signed and dated by a delegated authority from within the organisation. Some units require students to attend residential school.
