Structure
To complete the Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology students must attain 12 credit points. All units are core units (these are compulsory). There are no elective units.Students cannot complete the course in less than 18 months.

Standard entry requirements
- Bachelor degree in relevant area with eligibility for Exercise Scientist accreditation from Exercise and Sports Science Australia andcompletion of 140 hours of exercise assessment, prescription and delivery for apparently healthy clientele, utilising the ESSA practicum logbook. Please refer to the ESSA webpage for the template and examplesPlease refer below for more information on entry requirements into this course.Students are advised to aim for at least a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 65% or greater
- However achieving 65% or greater WAM does not provide guaranteed entry into the course.To satisfy the entry requirements for the course, applicants will need to meet one or more of the following criteria:Graduates of the H343 Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science at Deakin University after 2010. This course is accredited at the Exercise Science level by Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) and is designed to provide direct entry into the MCEP course.Graduates of the D394 Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science/Bachelor of Business (Sport Management) at Deakin University after 2020. This course is accredited at the Exercise Science level by Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) and is designed to provide direct entry into the MCEP course.Applicants who have previously completed an ESSA accredited undergraduate degree in Exercise Science at another university. Please refer to ESSA webpage to view the list of accredited universities.Current or past full member of ESSA. Applicants are required to provide membership evidence with their MCEP application.Graduates of undergraduate degrees other than those above, who can demonstrate that they have covered all or most of the elements required for accreditation at the Exercise Science level of ESSA (most undergraduate degrees in Exercise and Sports Science will cover this criteria), will need to complete a Non-ESSA Accredited Graduate Entry Assessment. Please see instructions below (*).For all four categories above, applicants must complete and submit the below with their applications:completed 140 hours of exercise assessment, prescription and delivery for apparently healthy clientele, as this is required for Accredited Exercise Physiology (AEP) registration and is not provided within the MCEP course.Applicants submit:their log book with their course application. Please refer to the ESSA webpage for the template and examplesa cover letter (350 words max) explaining your motivation to study the course, your work or life experiences and personal qualities that will contribute positively to your study and your future career as an Exercise Physiologist. Applicants are encouraged to include a CV/resume with the cover lettera current Exercise Scientist Accreditation (AES) with ESSA.(*) For applicants who have not graduated from an accredited ESSA course, there is a requirement to complete the Non-ESSA Accredited Graduate Entry Assessment as follows:Complete the Non-ESSA Accredited Graduate Entry Assessment Application Form from the ESSA webpage. Mail the application form and all relevant documents to ESSA (it must be hard copies), and upload a copy of the application form with your MCEP application.ESSA may take 45 days to review applications. During this time, ESSA assessors may contact applicants for more information.Upon successful completion of the assessment, ESSA will send the applicant a letter confirming the outcome of their application. Please provide a copy of this confirmation letter to Deakin by uploading the document into the applicant portal. This letter is required as part of the MCEP admission application documents.
Recognition
The Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology (H743) is the first AEP course in Victoria to be accredited by Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA). Students are eligible to apply for accreditation as Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) upon completion of the course, and are then eligible for provider numbers with Medicare Australia, WorkSafe Victoria, DVA, TAC, and other compensable funds and schemes.
