Humanitarian Scholarship

The purpose of the Humanitarian scholarship is to assist undergraduate students who are either first generation descendants of a refugee or are refugees themselves. Applicants must be currently enrolled or intending to enrol in semester one, in an undergraduate bachelor degree course at Edith Cowan University.
Eligibility
Applicants must be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent humanitarian or permanent resident; be a refugee or the first generation descendant of such a person, who experienced forced migration and may have entered Australia in a number of ways including off-shore approved Refugee or Humanitarian entrant onshore, community based Asylum Seeker or refugee, temporary protection visa holder, family reunion; be enrolled or enrolling into 'on campus' units (i.e. not for online study) at ECU in any course leading to the award of a undergraduate degree; able to demonstrate financial hardship; be willing to write a statement describing how they used the scholarship at the end of the academic year; and be without any other major scholarship ($1,500 or greater per semester).

Applicants of the Humanitarian Scholarship must attach evidence of theirs or their parent's refugee status when submitting their application. ECU will accept copies of documentation provided by the Australian Government - Department of Immigration and Border Protection showing entry to Australia on a refugee or humanitarian visa including 'Document for Travel' and Australian Visas for students and/or their parents. Please note, if any of the relevant parties are known under a different name to that on their immigration documents, then further evidence of the name change will need to be provided.
