A nationally accredited qualification in counselling. Informed by cognitive-behavioural approaches, guided self-help, and self-management, that support and respond to priority groups and populations. Graduates undertake a supervised industry placement working within a clinical context.

Structure

Students complete six core (compulsory) and two option topics aimed at providing students with the understanding, and skills in person-centred behavioural health counselling to improve physical and mental health outcomes for individuals.

Standard entry requirements

Applicants must hold a qualification at least equivalent to an Australian Bachelors degree in a health-related area, eg behavioural science, counselling, medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, psychology or social work, or hold the Graduate Certificate in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy or the Graduate Certificate in Behavioural Health from Flinders University. However, the Dean (Education) may, under certain circumstances and subject to specific conditions, admit others who can show evidence of fitness for candidature.
