Biotechnology is the science and technology of using living things for the benefit of humankind. Many areas of society are now seeing the benefits of biotechnological research, development and application. This graduate certificate aims to provide life science graduates with the ability to apply their prior knowledge within a biotechnology context.

Entry Requirements:

Applicants must normally hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification in a biological, agricultural or medical science and must have achieved a Flinders equivalent grade point average of credit (5.00) or above; or hold the Graduate Certificate in Biotechnology from Flinders University or equivalent qualification.


The graduate diploma is a 36 unit program where students complete at least four core (compulsory) topics and up to four elective topics chosen from a range of elective topics available. These topics aim to provide students with the theoretical scientific knowledge that is complemented by relevant practical laboratory training. The law, ethics, society and the environment have great relevance in biotechnology and all are examined.
