This course is a four-year degree designed to meet the professional requirements for accreditation by the Australian Institute of Building and the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors. The course embraces the construction management and quantity surveying fields of study, which are generally considered to fall within the management disciplines and financial administration of building projects through their life cycle. The first three years of the course focus on building a foundation of knowledge and skills that prepare you for a wide range of possible graduate vocational occupations in the building industry. All academic staff in the Bachelor of Construction Management and Economics have extensive, relevant industry/professional experience and higher education teaching experience.

Study pathways

Students choosing to exit the course after successful completion of the core 20 subjects will be eligible for the Bachelor of Applied Science (Built Environment) but will be ineligible to enrol to undertake the fourth year only of the Bachelor of Construction Management and Economics or Bachelor of Building Surveying.

Further information

Graduates may find successful employment within the building and construction industry in roles as diverse as assistant construction manager, assistant superintendent, building inspector, construction manager, construction planner and supervisor, contracts administrator, cost estimator, quantity surveyor (QS), site manager, superintendent and project manager.
