Indigenous Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship (ICECS)

The Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarships (CECS) are available to Indigenous students to assist with the high costs of undertaking higher education. While the CECS have been replaced by the Student Start-Up Scholarships (administered by Centrelink), they will continue to be offered to Indigenous students in their existing form.
Eligibility
Applicants must: be Indigenous Australian citizens experiencing financial disadvantage; be commencing or continuing full-time undergraduate students in a Commonwealth Supported Place (including the Diploma of Tertiary Studies) or Graduate Diploma of Education at a Monash campus in Australia; and have not previously completed a bachelor degree or equivalent (except where it is an entry requirement for the current course).Selection is based on need. Tenure is dependent on maintaining full-time on-campus enrolment and verification each semester.

The scholarship cannot be deferred. Applicants may hold a Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship and Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship concurrently but not sequentially. An additional allocation of scholarships is available for eligible students enrolling in the Indigenous Enabling Program.
