This course is the normal prerequisite for the Morling College Master of Counselling course. The Graduate Diploma, taken alone, is designed to meet the needs of people wanting to train in a helping ministry but not necessarily wanting to make counselling a career. Emphasis is placed on developing personal awareness and counselling microskills. Students wishing to specialise in marriage/family counselling will be encouraged to undertake further clinical training within the master degree.

A total of 32 credit points is required: 2 credit points from the required core subjects and 8 credit points of electives.

Study pathways
Completion of 4 units (16 credit points) makes a student eligible for the Graduate Certificate in Counselling which is an early exit point from the Graduate Diploma.
