The National Theatre is a Registered Training Organisation. Established in 1935, it houses a theatre (built in 1921), ballet school (established 1939) and drama school (established 1936). The schools offer part-time and full-time classical dance and drama training, including accredited and casual courses.

Entry requirements for National Theatre
All applicants must attend an audition. Advanced Diploma of Acting: audition and written application; Certificate II in Dance: year 10, at least 15 years of age, medical certificate, interview, ability equal to elementary exam standard of the Royal Academy of Dance or equivalent.
Transfering your previous study credits
Students can apply for recognition of prior learning or recognition of current competency. Skills must be demonstrated through workshop and/or audition.
External study opportunities
All courses are face-to-face. Some younger students also undertake Distance Education to complete VCE.
