Combine studies in civil and infrastructure engineering and business management to help you become an engineering manager, capable of providing technical and business leadership. Civil and infrastructure engineers plan, design, construct, supervise, manage and maintain essential infrastructure in modern communities. RMIT's civil and infrastructure engineering program is at the forefront of engineering education and meets Australian and global industry demands. The management degree focuses on the roles and functions of business management. Managers deal with a range of complex issues, including wider economic and social factors. Graduates acquire good interpersonal skills, a solid understanding of engineering theory and the ability to apply learning and knowledge to a wide range of situations. This double degree will give you an advantage, allowing you to advance into positions of responsibility and influence.

Entry Requirements:

Current Year 12 prerequisite units 3 and 4-a study score of 20 in one of Mathematical Methods (any) or Specialist Mathematics; and a study score of at least 25 in any English (except EAL) or at least 30 in English (EAL).


Years 1 and 2 The early stages of this program introduce you to key engineering capabilities in sustainability, problem solving, engineering analysis, teamwork, leadership and communications. The management program introduces core business concepts and analysis skills and encourages you to apply business theories and models. Years 3, 4 and 5 You'll learn about structures, water resources, geomechanics and transport. Over these years you can specialise and diversify. Your final-year (capstone) project will develop and reinforce the skills and knowledge you need - as defined by Engineers Australia - to commence your professional engineering career. You'll also complete a work-integrated learning (industry experience) elective in Year 2, 3 or 4. In the management program you'll build on fundamental business theory in organisational analysis and theory, marketing, international business, strategic management and entrepreneurship. You'll also be able to undertake a business elective.

This program is fully accredited by Engineers Australia. Graduates of the program are eligible for graduate membership of Engineers Australia. Full membership as a professional engineer may be obtained after an appropriate period of professional practice. Australia is one of 15 countries that are signatories to the International Engineering Alliance, also known as the Washington Accord, for professional engineers. The qualification of graduates from this degree is recognised in all countries that are signatories to the Accord. Depending on what you study, graduates of the Bachelor of Business (Management) may be eligible for professional membership of the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) (employment relations specialisation) and CPA Australia (management accounting and finance specialisation).
