Graduate Diploma of Education - Early Childhood

This program provides a combination of study areas addressing the specific knowledge acquisition, skills and attitudes necessary for success as an early childhood teacher. The program is designed to provide those interested in employment in the early childhood field with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to become highly qualified practitioners. The program prepares students to develop innovative learning environments for young children. All students undertake 60 days of supervised teaching practice in a range of early childhood settings from birth to five years.

Entry Requirements:

Successfully completed an Australian bachelor degree, or equivalent, in any discipline.


Subjects studied may include: Communities of Practice; Current Issues in Early Childhood Education; Early Childhood Language and Literacy; Inclusive Practices (Early Childhood); Investigating in the Sciences (Early Childhood); Linking Theory and Practice: Theory Three to Eight Years; Researching Learning; Studying and Providing for Children Birth to Three Years.

Graduates will be qualified to work as teachers in kindergartens, early learning and childcare centres and in other less-traditional educational settings. Graduates have the skills, knowledge and experience to work in private enterprise, government agencies and community services organisations.
