The term 'Training and Development' describes the intersection of adult education and training with individual and organisation development. This hybrid-type degree provides cross-disciplinary expertise in the fields of education and business. Emphasis is placed on providing workplace trainers and developers with new tools to enhance professional development with increased managerial responsibilities. The degree has been designed to provide the cross-disciplinary expertise required by workplace trainers, supervisors, HR staff with system level responsibilities or who are seeking to move into such positions. This course recognises professional background by giving full credit for previous studies, training and work experience, helping students to take the step into tertiary education. The course aims to link training concerns with leadership and organisational development and to facilitate the effectiveness of individual trainers in a workplace environment. It also includes an advanced academic skills unit that helps students refine their writing and information literacy skills for tertiary study.

Bachelor qualification in a relevant discipline; or other academic and professional qualifications considered by the School to be equivalent


144 credit points (equivalent to 24 standard units), including 96 credit points Advanced Standing. At least 36 credit points must be completed at 300-level. This course is designed for entry at 3rd year level on the basis of industry training, qualifications, workplace experience and formal studies.

Successful applicants to this 144 credit point course are granted 96 credit points of Advanced Standing at the time of admission based on formal education and work-based learning. this course may not be undertaken concurrently with, or upon successful completion of UNE Bachelor of Organisational Leadership.

College accommodation

UNE’s residential accommodation currently consists of eight colleges and a village of self-contained units. Accommodation ranges from the more traditional college with meals included and shared bathroom facilities, to the more independent, self-contained flats at Wright Village and UNE’s new Wright College , which provides modern studio apartments complete with your own kitchen and bathroom facilities.
