Bachelor of Construction Management and Economics (Honours)

The Bachelor of Construction Management and Economics (Honours) provides students with the knowledge and skills to work professionally in quantity or building surveying. Students study core areas of construction including law, management and communication, materials and economics along with more complex fields such as quantity surveying, building surveying, contract administration, development regulation, development economics, and fire engineering.

Entry Requirements:

Qualify for South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) with competitive ATAR; or complete secondary education equivalent to SACE; complete International Baccalaureate Diploma; complete or partially complete higher education program; complete four Open Universities Australia courses at undergraduate level or above; complete a Certificate IV level or above; qualify for special entry; complete a Foundation Studies program; and meet any pre-requisite and academic requirements. International students who speak English as a foreign language must have obtained the required standards prior to admission.

The honours component includes a minimum of one year of advanced studies in research and professional practice. Students receive First Class, Second Class or Third Class Honours depending on performance. The honours year prepares students for leadership roles in construction management.

Recognition:

The program is recognised as meeting the educational requirement for corporate membership of The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors. It is accredited by the Australian Institute of Building (AIB) and recognised as meeting the educational requirement for corporate membership of The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (UK). It is recognised as meeting the educational requirements for corporate membership of the Board of Quantity Surveyors, Malaysia, for graduates who have completed the Quantity Surveying specialisation and is recognised as meeting the educational requirements for corporate membership of the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors. The program is also recognised as meeting the educational requirements for corporate membership of the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, for graduates who have completed the Quantity Surveying specialisation.
