Westpac Bicentennial Foundation Young Technologists Scholarship

University of Technology Sydney (UTS)

The Young Technologists Scholarship has been established by the Westpac Bicentennial Foundation for high achieving school leavers with a passion to bring about change through cutting-edge technology and innovation. Students must be enrolled in Bachelor of Engineering, major in Software or Data Engineering. Preference is given to students with financial and/or educational disadvantage(s).

Eligibility

Applicants must: be Australian citizens, or permanent residents, or humanitarian visa holders; be current school leaver who received an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) of 80+ or equivalent score; be non-current school leavers, be under 26 years of age at the commencement of the relevant academic year; achieved an ATAR or equivalent of 80 or above, excluding bonus points; be enrolled full-time; apply using the UTS online scholarships application form. Preference will be given to applicants who are: female; from low socio-economic backgrounds (low SES); from non-English speaking backgrounds (NESB); people with disabilities; from regional and remote areas; Indigenous Australian students; experiencing educational barriers and/or personal hardship.

All applicants must submit the Westpac Bicentennial Foundation Young Technologists Scholarship application form available on the UTS Scholarships website. Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend the interview. Shortlisted applicants are interviewed and selection is based on: ATAR ranking order; motivation to pursue a career in technology using innovative thinking and exceptional problem-solving skills; demonstrated initiative to seek opportunities to continually advance their professional and personal lives; commitment to become an active Westpac Scholars Alumni member and make an influential contribution to raising the profile of technology in Australia.

Amount $5,000

Each recipient will receive up to $5,000 per year for a maximum total value of $20,000 if enrolled in a 4 year course, or $25,000 if enrolled in a 5 year course. This scholarship is valued up to $25,000 paid over 5 years, depending on the recipient's enrolled course at the time of offer.
