The 2018 edition of The Good Universities Guide highlights University of Southern Queensland's success in delivering outstanding graduate outcomes in its community. Close analysis of the Guide indicates that 32 per cent of USQ students come from a low socio-economic background. This is the second highest rate of any Australian university and more than double the rate of the nearest Group of Eight university, (Adelaide, 15 per cent). It is eight-times the proportion of low SES students served by the Australian National University, (four per cent).
The Good Universities Guide can reveal that USQ students go on to be some of the most highly employed graduates in the country. Five stars are awarded to USQ for Full-Time Employment where 82.5 per cent of graduates find full-time jobs within four months of graduating, well above the national average (69.5 per cent) and the second highest employment rate in the country.
Key insight
University of Southern Queensland led the way in engineering with the highest percentage for the Full-Time Employment measure.
Five-star field of study highlights
Psychology is where the University of Southern Queensland excels, with five-star results in six measures, including both Starting Salary and Full-Time Employment. The graduate outcome measures are USQ's strongest, achieving five stars six times across the various fields of study.
