The Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Business Administration will prepare you to meet the evolving business management expectations of contemporary health services.Health is increasingly seen as a business and registered nurses are increasingly moving from bedside care into middle management roles early in their careers where they are expected to take leadership roles in multi-disciplinary teams. As a nurse, you will be required to contribute to the success of that business through effective management of staff and financial resources.Graduates can pursue a range of careers in government and/or private hospitals, management, education and research, health promotion, and a wide range of occupations that require an understanding of business processes.
Structure
350 credit points. Students will undertake clinical placements for nursing only. These placements will occur across a variety of clinical units throughout the course in hospitals and community facilities. As part of your course, you will be placed in a range of organisations to integrate the theory you learn with practical workplace experiences (placements). As part of your enrolment, you must complete the Faculty of Health Sciences pre-placement requirements. To ensure you meet these requirements you need to start as soon as possible. Uniforms: Students are required to purchase and wear an ACU student nurse uniform during clinical components of the course. Standard entry requirements
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12 level, or equivalent. New South Wales Assumed knowledge: Nil Queensland Prerequisites: English (Units 3 and 4, C).Victoria Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4 - a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or 25 in any other English. Recognition
Eligible graduates can apply for registration as a nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Please refer to the Registration Standards for Nursing and Midwifery on the AHPRA website.
Study pathways
An Honours year is available to meritorious students, with a grade point average of 5.75, who meet the admission requirements for the Bachelor of Nursing (Honours). The Faculty of Health Sciences offers a suite of postgraduate coursework degrees in nursing. Specialties include mental health nursing, clinical nursing, clinical education, health administration as well as leadership and management in health care. Graduates may also be eligible to progress to postgraduate coursework degrees within the Faculty of Law and Business.
