This qualification is part of the Metal and Engineering Training Package. It is designed for metal fabrication apprentices. Students learn how to work with metal, and can specialise in: sheetmetal, ventilation and air conditioning ducting, plate and structural sections, pressure vessels, the forging of custom parts and welding.

Structure:

11 core units; plus minimum 10 stream units; plus specialisation units

Stream: Perform sheet and plate assembly; Operate melting furnaces; Produce polymer patterns; Develop and manufacture vacuum forming moulds and associated equipment; Carry out mechanical cutting; plus more and specialist units.
