The Master of Medical Laboratory Science is a new course that will provide you with the necessary knowledge, skills and workplace experience to work in diagnostic pathology and assist with diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of disease. You will gain knowledge and skills in the areas of haematology, microbiology, clinical chemistry, anatomical pathology and serology.Graduates may work in areas such as diagnostic pathology, research, forensics science as well as health management, public health departments, educational institutes and the pharmaceutical industry.All graduates will be eligible to apply directly to AIMS for professional recognition.

Structure

  • The Master in Laboratory Medicine comprises of core units and an elective. Core units include diagnostic haematology, pathology, clinical chemistry, bacteriology, mycology, virology and parasitology and transfusion. You will undertake two professional placements in diagnostic, forensic and world leading research laboratories within Darwin.A candidate must successfully complete units totalling 160 credit points as detailed below. Standard entry requirements

Successful completion of a recognised bachelor degree in biomedical or medical health disciplines. Due to professional recognition, applicants who have completed a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science undergraduate degree are not eligible for entry into this course.
