The Bachelor of Education (Primary) provides students with the required skills and qualifications to teach primary students from foundation to Year 6. Students can choose to study this course both on campus or online to suit their professional and social commitments. CQUniversity is one of the only universities in Australia that embeds a nationally recognised Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care which students can apply for after completing the first year of study together with a practical component. This will enable students to work as a qualified early learning professional in childcare centres throughout the remainder of their studies. In addition to building professional knowledge and skills, students undertake frequent and meaningful work experience and professional practice in authentic educational settings. This includes 125 days of planned teaching practice in schools and other learning sites.

Recognition
Graduates will be eligible to apply for provisional registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.
Study pathways
Exit awards: Bachelor of Teaching; Associate Degree of Education. This course entails a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care embedded award. Students interested in teaching may also consider the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) and Bachelor of Education (Secondary). Students may continue their studies in education through the Graduate Certificate in Brain Based Education, Educational Leadership and the Master of Education (by Research).

All applicants must meet non-academic criteria required by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership, for entry to this course. To find out more about CQUniversity's English language requirements visit www.cqu.edu.au/elp. Students will be required to complete 120 supervised placement days and a 25 day internship in order to satisfy the course accreditation requirements. Students studying on campus in Cairns, Gladstone or Townsville will be supported through a combined delivery of on campus and online study.
