The Graduate Certificate in Social Innovation Leadership is a multi-disciplinary course that equips you with a strong foundational knowledge about social innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as leadership skills. You will gain an understanding of how social innovation addresses social challenges through the creative and sustainable development of new ideas, products, models or systems. You will gain knowledge about and critically reflect on a human-centred design that underpins social innovation, which maintains a focus on people and creating social impact, whether this is achieved through new business enterprises or other socially focused interventions. You will have the opportunity to explore a range of topics and areas, including design thinking, systems thinking, program logic, group dynamics, disruptive innovation, and innovation and entrepreneurship for 21st Century leaders. You will apply your new knowledge and gain experience by designing, developing and implementing an innovative project with social impact that addresses a contemporary social issue in your field/discipline.

Standard entry requirements

  • To be eligible for entry into this course, applicants must hold one of the following:A completed Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) equivalent Bachelor degree, or higher equivalent qualification
  • OrA completed AQF Diploma with two years relevant business experience*
  • OrA minimum of five years relevant business experience*.* Relevant work experience should include an understanding of how a business operates, which includes, project management, process management or other relevant professional experience.Employment experience must be shown in a letter of employment which is presented on a company letterhead as well as signed and dated by a delegated authority. The letter must contain position title, duties performed and length of service.English Language Proficiency Requirements:If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa or United States of America you are required to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements set by the University. Applicants are required to provide evidence of completion of:A secondary qualification (Year 11 and 12, or equivalent), orAn Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) diploma level qualification, orBachelor level qualification study for a period of at least 2 years fulltime with a minimum overall GPA 4.0Completed within Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, South Africa, Ireland, or United States of America, which will meet the English proficiency.If you do not satisfy any of the above you will need to undertake an English language proficiency test and achieve the following scores as below:An International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic) overall band score of at least 6.0 overall with a minimum 5.5 in each subset
  • OrTest of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Requires 550 or better overall & minimum TWE score of 4.5 (Paper Based Test), or 75 or better overall and no score less than 17 (Internet Based Test)
  • OrPearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Requires an overall score of 54 with no sub-score less than 46
  • OrAn Occupational English Test with Grades A or B only in each of the four components.English test results remain valid for no more than two years between final examination date and the date of commencement of study, and must appear on a single result certificate.
